2nd
and Menaul Boulevard intersection reconstruction project
Dear Friends and Neighbors:
The City of Albuquerque in coordination with the New Mexico Department
of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration, is proposing
to improve the Second Street/Menaul Boulevard intersection. The proposed
project is anticipated to consist of a complete reconstruction of
the existing intersection, including the addition of turn-lanes and
the addityion of one northbound and one southbound through-lane.The
additional lanes may
serve as
right-turn-only lanes until such a time as future six-lane corridor
improvements are implemented on Second Street. Reconstruction of the
traffic signal, expansion of sidewalks, landscaping, and installation
of on-street bicycle lanes are also anticipated to be included in
the proposed project. These proposed improvements would address current
needs for additional capacity in the intersection and accommodate
City policy to improve Second Street with bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
The limits of the proposed improvements are anticipated to extend
from Arvada Avenue on the south to Claremont Avenue on the north,
and Fourth Street on the west to the AT&SF Railroad corridor on
the East.
