North Fourth Street Corridor Plan

The City of Albuquerque is preparing a redevelopment plan for the North
Fourth Street corridor, with boundaries extending from Lomas Boulevard
to Solar Road NW, at the City boundary with Los Ranchos. NNVNA's area
extends for an entire mile of the four-mile corridor. The project
purpose is to investigate and assess potential changes that will
improve North Fourth Street. The outcome will be specific
recommendations for implementation of changes to land use, zoning,
business climate urban design, traffic and transportation. The goal
will be to create an urban design that ties surrounding neighborhoods
together in a unified "main street" that encourages walkability, safety
and improvements to the street.

Results of this project will have a major effect on our neighborhood's
economic health and vitality. On the project Working Group, we are
represented by three association members, President Ray Gutierriez,
Barb Ten Broek and Anne LaLopa. There will be public meetings this
summer. In the meantime, please contact NNVNA member Ingrid Biel
should you have any questions. She is the consultant team project
manager and can be reached at ibiel@arcplanning.com or at ARC,
842-1254.
